Friday Field Trip #3

 On Friday DH, a friend and I took the blue light rail to downtown Minneapolis to the downtown Hennepin County library.  The green and blue lines of the light rail began operation in June of 2014, and this was the first time the three of us had ridden on it.  What took us so long?!  It is slick, fast, and sure beats driving, searching for a parking spot and paying parking fees. As my grandson said, riding it "is an experience."  On the way downtown a boisterous group of young adults dominated the train car with pretty stupid behaviour,  but another young man assisted us in confirming where we should embark and where to walk to find the library a block away.  Quite a contrast. The whole afternoon was enjoyable and educational.  Learned a lot on the light rail and in the library. We ended the field trip by stopping for cookies and coffee at a local cafe.

    Public transport can be easy but sometimes the passengers are not se easy unfortunately.

    Public transit is how I get around and love it. Occasionally you get some annoying people but that happens everywhere. Sounds like you had a fun field trip.

    Sounds like a lovely day. When Houston put in it's light rail we went with a group of friend's into town and had dinner. It was so much better than driving and parking as you said. Shame on those rowdy passengers.

    Sounds like a fun time except for a few rowdies. I sure wish we had some decent rail transport in the this area!

    Such a good way to get into the city Kate.. We do that also, as you say so much easier than finding and paying for parking :)

    I love the Phoenix Light Rail, although I don't ride it often. It is definitely quicker, cheaper and much less of a headache than fighting the traffic and looking for parking than the conventional auto trip. It's constantly under expansion in Phoenix and I think you can even ride it all the way to the airport now.
