Innocent Childhood Delight-Travel Tuesday #1
For years I have spent several winter months in Mazatlán, México. One of the plazas in Centro Historico is visited by scores of pigeons, which I dislike because of the mess they leave behind. Many people feed them regularly so there is no incentive for them to leave. Often I wish that I had a handful of birth control pills to scatter among the bread crumbs to entice them. After seeing this child's obvious delight in seeing them, I felt just a wee bit friendlier toward these birds.

I am with you there. You did a nice job capturing the boy's delight though.
ReplyDeletePigeons are a bit of a win/lose kind of bird hey Kate. Feeding them makes such a fab image, the mess not so much :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a great picture, but you're right, these birds are very messy and spread disease throughout the land.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo! You can see the happiness on his face.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't take much to make a child happy! At least his smile made you happy too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific shot, Kate! The boy's expression makes it work so well.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to your wish, a little though....
ReplyDeleteOkay, they leave a mess, but the pleasure they give to much people is much greater (and more important, i think)
Have a nice ABC-Day / - Week

As long as they are not overhead. He looks like hes enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteDid you know that some people are terrified of pigeons, or birds in general? We have lots here but I think we have more sea gulls than pigeons. And they poop everywhere! Yucky! lol

The shot is cool but being surrounded by the very birds that plague me would be my worst nightmare!

Pigeons are most enjoyable when seen from a distance. But this young man's smile is special.

Sweet pictures...
ReplyDeleteWe had a pair of pigeons that nested under our roof in California. That completely ended any possible tolerance I might have had for them. Cute shot though.
ReplyDeleteLovely shot!
