  3. Dinkytown? An actual name of a town or a part of the campus?

    1. An area surrounding the campus. Over the years the "funky" aspect of the area has been overrun by more modern establishments. The iconic Grey's Drug Store has been replaced by a restaurant, for heaven's sakes!

  4. Ha, That reminds me when my sister was visiting somewhere and remarked "there was nothing to read. I found myself reading all four sides of the cereal box".

  5. I visited some of Thomas Jefferson's books at the Library of Congress.

  7. Maybe I am obtuse, but that parenthetical phrase about dysentery seems like a non sequitur.

  8. Hi Kate,
Magnificent way of encourage people to read! I love this one also: “A book lying idle on a shelf is wasted ammunition. Like money, books must be kept in constant circulation. A book is not only a friend, it makes friends for you. When you have possessed a book with mind and spirit, you are enriched. But when you pass it on you are enriched threefold.”

  9. And poor Jefferson (literally, poor) had to sell his library to the Library of Congress...
(I doubt if Nick Hornby will ever have to do the same.)
