ABC WEDNESDAY-"R"-RHODODENDRONS

After our long, bitterly cold and snowy Minnesota winter, I didn't think I'd ever see blossoms emerge again, but my lovely rhododendrons finally burst into bloom at the beginning of May.

  5. I love rhodies, too, Kate. Ours are just starting to show, along with their cousins the azaleas. Unfortunately, it is rainy and dreary here and is forecast to be the same way throughout the week. Fortunately, rhodies look good when it is glum, though they look better with sun and blue skies.

  12. I think they are one of my favorite flowers. Beautiful lavendar color too.
Thursday we had temps in the high 80's, yesterday we had a violent hail storm and the temps never got above 45. This is not typical of the Sacramento Central Valley. It should be shorts and flip flop time.
    Enjoy your breath of Spring.

  14. Lovely photo. I've seen a few rhododendrons blooming in Portland recently. Not a profusion of them like in years past. I wonder if my old neighborhood is loaded like in years past? Maybe I'll head over there this weekend and take a look.

  23. Every time it appears we've turned the corner, cold weather tries to sneak up on us. The lilacs have bloomed and so have your flowers. They are a welcome sight.
