Talented writers
Yesterday I told you about Sharon Creech and the Kerlan Award. Attending that ceremony and luncheon were two local writers that you should know about, Julie, on the left is a talented educator who has a personal blog where she writes wonderful reviews of children's books and Kate DiCamillo, a well-known award-winning and popular children's author. Both posed happily for me. Both of these charming women prove without doubt that the Twin Cities are alive with talent for an audience of all ages for people who are in love with books, literature, and writers. They are living proof of the quality of life for those of us who live here. Our writers and the cultural environment of the Twin Cities keep me here…despite the long winters!!
Important to know: Both St Paul (#4 and Minneapolis #1) were in the top ten "Most Literate" cities in the U.S., ahead of D.C., Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta, Denver, St. Louis and others. Check it out here: http://hosted.ccsu.edu/app/?news=1119&data

ReplyDeleteOh, how wonderful to see that dear Library Jewel, one of my favorite bloggers & penpals, and Kate DiCamillo, one of my favorite authors! I must pay a visit to your literalte cities, to meet Julie in person, and perhaps you too? As far as literate cities, our Boston (300 miles away, still I say "our") certainly is up there...
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got to attend this lovely occasion for another one of my favorite bloggers and writers!!
Thank you for stopping by my blog recently!
Thanks for taking our photograph, Kate!
ReplyDeleteThey look like wonderful women, Kate. I would like to meet them in Southwest Florida.
