Deciding to sell one's home to move to smaller living quarters is a BIG STEP. We're not quite ready to make that final decision yet, but we have surveyed our house to make certain that it is up to code. Our back bedroom has a door leading to a roof that is above our first floor 3-season porch. When we moved in, a wood railing was attached to the roof, but it eventually deteriorated. Now, thanks to Kent and Bob, we have a sturdy, steel black rail around the perimeter. I plan to put down an outdoor carpet, add a small table, two chairs and enjoy sunny summer mornings with my coffee and newspaper. Maybe even a bit of reading in the afternoon while sunning in my bathing suit.

Don't get to attached to it. Isn't your summer, just like a long weekend?
ReplyDeleteI can't quit chuckling over Jim's comment. He lives just a hoot and a holler from me (okay, so it's 125 miles or so but in Texas that's practically your neighbor). I know you'll enjoy those warm sunny days that is in your near future!
ReplyDeletelaughing at jim's comment. :) hooray for a safety railing! now, when you're sipping cocktails up there and all slathered with suntan lotion, you won't slide off the deck! :)
ReplyDeleteYou just reminded me a lot of works to be done...
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great little place to relax. I need to get a small table and chairs for my balcony. I had to leave my big patio table at the old house. It was way too big for my new small place.
ReplyDeleteIt does make sense to start thinking of these things now.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a great place to sit and enjoy a sunny day.
ReplyDeleteyes it is a BIG decisio that should not be taken lightly and one that should be tken ahead of time.
ReplyDeleteMake sure you were your bathing suit. I'm sending a drone with a camera over your house. And you know where I publish my pictures! :)
ReplyDeleteLaughing at Fotolosopher's comment above. If you were German, you might not wear a bathing suit!
ReplyDeleteThe hardest part is doing all that deferred maintenance and not sticking around long enough to really enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet Kate sun bathes with a stick like that chip, and will take care of your drone!
ReplyDeleteNice shots. Looks like a nice balcony too.
ReplyDeleteThat will be a great place to read a paper indeed.
ReplyDeleteI'm back from my blog break. Ah yes the decision on when to downsize is a big step and one that has been taxing my mind over recent months ... in the end I decided we were not ready yet ... but I wonder if we will ever feel ready.
