I was surprised at how poorly the war monuments in St. Paul are identified and marked. I think that the city needs to look at this oversight. After returning home I did a Google search and discovered that plaques and memorials are scattered around the Capitol grounds so I'll have to return to find them. I was unsuccessful on a cold blustery grim-looking day when I searched earlier for them.
This memorial is to those men and women who served and who survived.
It's important to remember those who died as well as those who survived. War is such a tragic and useless thing. I just wish that one day, everyday people will stop loosing their lives over it.

A very realistic statue. It is good to remember, but the world doesn't seem to learn from the past....
ReplyDeleteWe often forget about those who returned. Good plaque to place.
ReplyDeletevery poignant.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting statue. I like the tribute to those who survived.
ReplyDeleteThe sculpture is quite lifelike!
ReplyDeleteQuite powerful.
ReplyDeleteNice statue. Hope Maggi is doing ok.
ReplyDeleteSo many warriors are so changed by the experience. I'm pleased to see this memorial.
ReplyDeleteThose of us who are safe in our homes have short attention spans. It is easy to honor veterans on days like today when there are cues around to remind us to do so. On the remaining days, many returned soldiers and the families of deceased soldiers can rightly feel ignored and forgotten.
ReplyDeleteThe title and plaque are very powerful. Who do we forget those who have lived through war?
ReplyDeleteI really like that statue...
