This year St. Paul tried a "European Christmas Market" in downtown. It is small but it looks promising as the beginning of a new holiday tradition. From what I have seen on European blogs, ours is not as varied or large, but it's a start!!
That is nice to have such a market. We never used to have these markets in the Netherlands so we visited some in Germany and Belgium over the years, but now there are some attempts to have one here too. But it looks a bit like yours, it is difficult to create a tradition....
ReplyDeleteI think is a super idea! I'd like to see more cities try it. Did you know I once marched in the St. Paul Winter Parade? I was in the Navy and part of the color guard. That was a looooong time ago!

ReplyDeleteSuch concepts might start out small, but build over time. This sounds like it has potential to grow over time. We have a three weekend Christmas farmer's market starting today.... I have to drop in and check it out.

ReplyDeleteWe still don't have one here in Phoenix and I'm not sure it would be quite the same when the temperature is in the 70's. When I worked in Chicago where was one at Daley Plaza and of course I saw a huge one being assembled on the south bank in London last November when I was there.
