A favorite mural

I decided that rather than succumb to the weather and wallow in a deep funk, I would work around it. I have NO desire to wander my gray and grim Minnesota winter environment to find pleasing images for photography; I shall break the rules and find color in my archives, regardless of location.

In years past we spent many lovely winter months in Mazatlán, México.  A house that I admired had this mural on one of the walls.  Now this certainly can dispel gloom, can't it?! Now, just for the record I KNOW that a creative person can find subjects worthy of photography in any environment, and I am aware that Thanksgiving is approaching and I have a life for which I have much gratitude. But . . . I just don't feel like making the effort right now.  A funk it is!!

  1. This is a lovely photo, Kate, and is sure to help improve the attitudes of all your readers who are in a funk. I DO find beauty in winter but I'll try not to convince you that I'm right. :)

  6. Looks a bit like a watercolor painting. Not something i associate with a mural but for everything must be a first time. Thanks for showing.

  7. We spent two months in Mazatlan at the beginning of this year. We love it there. Funk, yup, that time of year.

  12. Oh dear...then stay away from my post today. Don't want you throwing rocks at me. That is a lovely mural. I hope you have plans to head south soon?

  15. Yes, that's a nice one! Not to brag, but today it got warm here in Virginia. I had lunch outside and walked in a park.

Don't feel bad, it was freezing last week.

  16. I have gone through uncreative stretches like that. Fortunately, down here the weather never stays bad more than three or four days. At the moment my stress is that I need to post a Thanksgiving photo by Wednesday night and there is very little in southwest Florida that makes a decent Thanksgiving subject.

  17. You are not forced to make pictures, it is your own choice, so I enjoy your picture of the mural. You even could have participated in "Monday Mural" with it :)

  18. Hey, a mural is a mural is a mural. Yours reminds us that it's not winter everywhere. For those of us who suffer Seasonal Affective Disorder, spring cannot come too soon. Hang in there, girl. And thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

  19. A lovely mural, and this weather definitely does not inspire one to get out of the house.
