Visiting City Politicians
Mayor Chris Coleman (left) and Councilman Chris Tolbert were on hand to help us celebrate the Grand Opening of the Highland Park Library, renamed the Highland Community Center. Although it was a very different building, Tolbert recalled getting his first library card here after he learned how to print his name. Many good memories for Highland residents.

Nice that they put so much into it. Down here they cut the hours to the library and a community center is only a dream. :-(
ReplyDeleteAh... first library card. It was a special day. I had to wait a week, as I recall, but it was worth it. My first piece of plastic.
ReplyDelete... and many more happy memories to come Kate!
ReplyDeletethey have that 'politician' look to them. :)
ReplyDeleteI can remember how proud I was to have my very own library card and how special I felt just being in our beautiful library in Quincy Illinois.
ReplyDeleteGood to see politicians involved in causes such as is this library.

Tex took the words right out of my mouth.
ReplyDeleteI got my Naples library card a couple of months ago.
ReplyDeleteThey look really involved!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to have a mayor and councilor that cares about libraries! My little town is lucky but I'm surprised that your big city is too.
ReplyDeletePoliticians will never miss an opportunity to show up when happy people are celebrating something positive.
