Last Sunday I introduced you to a restaurant located in a Pullman car. Above is a small sampling of the memorabilia decorating the interior of this neighborhood restaurant serving some authentic Chicago dishes!

VISUAL SAINT PAUL
When I redo my bedroom, its going to be all sports memorabilia. No Cubs stuff though, I like winners.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to think of what is authentic Chicago food. Chicago style hot dogs maybe? I do love Chicago style hot dogs.
ReplyDeleteThe hot dogs, absolutely! Owners claim that they get their beef and pork imported from Chicago. Remember this?

BY CARL SANDBURG
Hog Butcher for the World,
Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat,
Player with Railroads and the Nation's Freight Handler;
Stormy, husky, brawling,
City of the Big Shoulders... [and there's more!]
I do remember that! When I was working there, I used to go to a place called Gold Coast Hot Dogs. It was somewhat of a dive but, boy did they have the best Chicago style hot dogs. I remember they had photo of Bill Cosby on the wall enjoying one of their special dogs.
DeleteChicago has it's share sports teams! The pennates have always caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteand, did they win ?
ReplyDeleteWe have season tickets for the Cubs Spring Training games in Mesa, Arizona. I remember one fan wearing a Cubs t-shirt that had the slogan "Any team can have a bad century."
ReplyDeleteLove it, Dave! If I were still living in Chicago I would want one of those t-shirts! Despite its bad press lately, I still love the Windy City!! Enjoy your games!!
DeleteI think they did a good job of decorating to keep with the Chicago theme. I have some fond memories of Chicago.
ReplyDeletegood for a sports fanatic. :)
ReplyDeleteStrangely fitting that the Cubs pennant is pointing straight down...
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for U day.
ReplyDeleteI remember that Sandburg poem! Thanks for the memory!
ReplyDeleteExcellent choice for U !
ReplyDeleteCouldn't count all the time Mr. Payton made the Vikings look silly, inept or both.....
ReplyDeleteClever thinking for a U-post!
