I love old buildings like this. Reminds me of happy travels across the desert in Western USA where you see abandon shacks like this frequently. They all must have a story to tell. Cheers, Kate.
A perfect site for this them. I have many photos of old barns that I've taken in Missouri or Illinois when I've been visiting there but they are much harder to find in the Phoenix area.
This reminds me of Bodie, Calif., an old mining town maintained by the state of California - as a park - in a state of "arrested decay." It's in an area of great weather extremes and the buildings in the town look much like this one, gamely standing up to whatever Mother Nature is sending its way.
nice! if i had sopped at every decaying house/barn etc here in the USA i would not have come far... :) and each time i am disappointed when not stopping....
I wonder what hopes and aspirations the people had who built this home and why it was eventually abandoned. This photo really stirred up some emotions in me.
one big wind and it looks like it will topple...
ReplyDeleteI like your first one. I don't think I'd venture in there.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely agree with Jo, go there on your tiptoes!

ReplyDeleteThat's a magnificent building - I wonder will it be 'rescued' before it crumbles away to nothingness??
ReplyDeleteI don't think it will stand much longer.

ReplyDeleteWell now, that building certainly is in a state of decaying decay.
ReplyDeleteOne big snow storm and this decay will turn to rubble! This is a perfect post for the theme day.
ReplyDeleteNice choice for theme day. I hope someone tries to recycle the wood if they can.
ReplyDeleteI like this kind of photography. So nice place.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful indeed, it looks like it's been weathering gracefully for a long time. Makes me think of old film stills:)
ReplyDeleteI like this - you can see the many stages of wood decay in this.
