Want a postcard?

This photo of my daughter Kati and husband Jim was taken a few months ago. The first person who can identify what is happening here gets a postcard from St. Paul, Minnesota! Good luck!

Today in Minnesota History: 1990 - Sister Mary Giovanni Gourhan, founder in 1963 of Guadalupe Area Project alternative school, dies. A native of West St. Paul, Gourhan ran an unorthodox school, teaching the basics plus Mexican history and effective living and meditation techniques. The school continues her mission today. 1. Well, it could be either of two things... 1) saluting (in rather free-form fashion) the lowering of the Flag at sunset...
or 2) they've spotted him, and they're watching Dick Cheney duck hunt (hopefully from a safe distance)...

I would guess a hot air balloon, but I don't think anyone goes out in them when it's that cold. Hmm . . .

  10. Merry Christmas Kate!
Looking closer at the fences in the background, and the position of their head, I would say, like Alice, that they are watching a horse show with jumping...

  23. I am very competitive,so I will try again;-)
It is on a track (your hint) so:
    horse racing
    car/truck/motorcycle racing
perhaps your grandkid was running 100/200/400m dash/hurdles...
    That's it, I'm done;-)

  29. Kate - I received your personal challenge (dare I say a dare?) and even though I believe I get your hints - game, track, field - my mind is not working to its full capacity, due to all the imbibing during the festivities;-)))

Are they watching an ice skate competition, it seems very cold?

  33. I've got it! Your daughter and your husband (got it right this time) are watching you participate in the Twin Cities Marathon!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. The postcard goes to Isabella even tho she listed a multitude of events: soccer, baseball, football.

I inadvertently mislead you by using the word "track", but I also added "game" and "afield" to help you out!!

My husband Jim (Jaime in Mexico!!) and daughter Kate were watching the championship FOOTBALL game in which grandson Dominique was playing. His team won the championship in his age category. He had great coaches who gave unselfishly of their time. God love them!

So, Isabella, stop tearing your hair out, and the creative postcard goes to Deb and Chris for making me laugh!! Skydiving and Twin City Marathon indeed! Send me your addresses offline (my address in with my profile) so I can mail it before I wing away.

  35. With this quiz at long last over, and with the passing of Gerald Ford earlier this week, I feel it is somehow appropriate to offer a quote from him at this time. Though not perfect, I think it speaks to those of us who spent countless hours grappling with the quiz:
"My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over"

    Congratulations to Isabella.
    Indeed the nightmare is over.
    Greetings from Europe (NL).
