This photo of my daughter Kati and husband Jim was taken a few months ago. The first person who can identify what is happening here gets a postcard from St. Paul, Minnesota! Good luck!
Today in Minnesota History: 1990 - Sister Mary Giovanni Gourhan, founder in 1963 of Guadalupe Area Project alternative school, dies. A native of West St. Paul, Gourhan ran an unorthodox school, teaching the basics plus Mexican history and effective living and meditation techniques. The school continues her mission today. Well, it could be either of two things... 1) saluting (in rather free-form fashion) the lowering of the Flag at sunset...
ReplyDeleteor 2) they've spotted him, and they're watching Dick Cheney duck hunt (hopefully from a safe distance)...
pour voir les illuminations de noel ???
ReplyDeleteto see the Christmas lights???
I would say that they are trying to view the sunset.
ReplyDeletehahahaha to aphotoaday's 2nd guess.
ReplyDeletemy guess, they are watching some spectacular bird show? heheh
I would guess a hot air balloon, but I don't think anyone goes out in them when it's that cold. Hmm . . .
ReplyDeleteKate, thank you for stopping by at my blog. I hope that you will stop by often. I love your site.
ReplyDeleteDave
Perhaps a horses race? (not sure this expression is the right one...)
ReplyDeleteeclipse
ReplyDeleteHorse race ??? They would have to be "angels on horseback" at that height !!! Watching the space shuttle or looking at "the stairway to Heaven" #392
ReplyDeleteI have mentioned your blog @ #343 on my blog - 21 21 21 Great Blogs To Read - as it is worth sharing.
Merry Christmas Kate!
ReplyDeleteLooking closer at the fences in the background, and the position of their head, I would say, like Alice, that they are watching a horse show with jumping...
great photo Kate, maybe your dearest ones are watching planes... maybe not
ReplyDeleteAn Easter sunrise service?
ReplyDeleteGeese flying south? Annie
ReplyDeleteWell, no-one yet has guessed. Keep trying; the postcard will be fantastic! PS. One of you is on the right track.
ReplyDeleteThey're watching a hockey game?
ReplyDeleteMaybe watching an airplane show or parade?
ReplyDeleteI think they look at the second horse racing!
ReplyDeleteI like the image capture.
It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's Superman!
ReplyDeleteBased on your additional hints, I would have to guess your daugher and son-in-law are observing a soccer match....
ReplyDeleteAre they watching skydivers landing?
ReplyDeleteDeb is guessing now:
ReplyDeleteWatching Kate skydive?
I was surfing the newly posted blogs when your message came in, Deb. It made me laugh out loud. Don't I wish!
ReplyDeleteThink about my last clue!!
I am very competitive,so I will try again;-)
ReplyDeleteIt is on a track (your hint) so:
horse racing
car/truck/motorcycle racing
perhaps your grandkid was running 100/200/400m dash/hurdles...
That's it, I'm done;-)
When will you tell us?
perhaps watching a car race
ReplyDeleteWatching a vet parade.
ReplyDeleteWell, I've scattered clues about here and there, and, I must say that a few of you (namely, Isabella and Deb and Chis) are gamely trying to find the answer. Don't go too far afield, tho!
ReplyDeleteIs it the man flying a delta wing and geese following him?
ReplyDeleteSorry....my english is not so good.
They are tracking the children and/or grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteKate - I received your personal challenge (dare I say a dare?) and even though I believe I get your hints - game, track, field - my mind is not working to its full capacity, due to all the imbibing during the festivities;-)))
ReplyDeleteTrack and field athletics, perhaps?
Isabella, You are almost there. Go for it! You're closer than anyone!!
ReplyDeleteOh, you are cruel, Kate - why do you torture me so? Soccer/baseball/football/lacrosse/hockey?
ReplyDeleteDog/fowl(game)racing/? OK I'm loosing it...
Let me sleep on it...pleeeeze...
Grrrrrr......I can't stop thinking about this but I try again.
ReplyDeleteAre they watching an ice skate competition, it seems very cold?
I've got it! Your daughter and your husband (got it right this time) are watching you participate in the Twin Cities Marathon!!
ReplyDeleteThe postcard goes to Isabella even tho she listed a multitude of events: soccer, baseball, football.
ReplyDeleteI inadvertently mislead you by using the word "track", but I also added "game" and "afield" to help you out!!
My husband Jim (Jaime in Mexico!!) and daughter Kate were watching the championship FOOTBALL game in which grandson Dominique was playing. His team won the championship in his age category. He had great coaches who gave unselfishly of their time. God love them!
So, Isabella, stop tearing your hair out, and the creative postcard goes to Deb and Chris for making me laugh!! Skydiving and Twin City Marathon indeed! Send me your addresses offline (my address in with my profile) so I can mail it before I wing away.
With this quiz at long last over, and with the passing of Gerald Ford earlier this week, I feel it is somehow appropriate to offer a quote from him at this time. Though not perfect, I think it speaks to those of us who spent countless hours grappling with the quiz:
ReplyDelete"My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over"
Congratulations to Isabella.
ReplyDeleteIndeed the nightmare is over.
Greetings from Europe (NL).
And to quote dr. Martin Luther King, Jr: "Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty, we are free at last."
ReplyDeleteWe can resume our lives now!
