The St. Paul Hotel

This is a sign above one of the entrances to the downtown St. Paul Hotel. Nice, but not that special, right? Well, recently the corporate executive suite in the "penthouse" was just opened to the public--to the tune of $5,000 a night. Worth it? Check out the description and photograph below from the article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, December 21 issue. Perhaps you'd like to visit and book it for New Year's Eve? (Photograph copied from the Tribune article referenced above)

  2. I was going to say that President Clinton stayed there, but the article says not in the penthouse. I do believe he stayed in that hotel. It must have been the "2nd best" for him.

  6. The suite looks lovely, but when I think of all the things I could buy for $5000 - I think I'll pass...

  7. I couldn't stand to drop $5000 for a night's lodging. It would literally hurt to do so.

And it seems I am in good company here with the rest of the bloggers. Looks like none of us are real big spenders.

  8. I agree with the previous comments! Dropping 5K on one night's lodging would leave me...well...sleepless. So what would be the point.
And speaking of sleepless...tossed and turned all night still trying to solve your quiz!

I probably wouldn't ever stay in a place like that -- not really impressed by opulence. :-) I'm more of a nature girl. But it's cool and the article was interesting.

Kate I just noticed your question about whether I bought the cholesterol cure cookbook. Actually my mother gave me hers. I see on amazon there's an updated version but I have to older one.

I didn't want to take lipitor or crestor so I just told my doc I was going to try to reduce the cholesterol reading in my own way. She wasn't happy then but now she is.

It's gorgeous. I'd love to stay there with a bunch of friends, a la Andrew's idea, and not know how much. We'd have to buy food and champagne on top of that!

For that price you may as well get a few cousins to build one from scrap. What is that? Yellow pine floor, couple of columns, a table or two, white paint, flowers...and still have money left over for the heating. Thanks for you kind comments while I was away.
