Man's Best Friend

I didn't get the light right with the dog and owner, but I wanted you to see this! I've seen the two of them biking around the neighborhood before but wasn't able to stop to speak to them. Today I chased them down the street. The man was very gracious and seemed to be on an errand so I didn't get much information from him as I didn't want to delay him further after he willingly posed for me. His canine friend hopped off the cart--didn't seem to be handicapped. There has to be a story behind this, and no doubt I'll find out sometime in the future when I see them again.

  3. How nice that he stopped for you. I wonder what the story is. The dog is beautiful and usually they pull the sled not ride on it. Looking forward to an explanation.

  4. I've just seen Ming's cute dog all dressed up in NYC and now yours - that's fun! I definitely thought that the dog was handicapped. If he isn't... well I'd love to get the full story!!!

Good for you for chasing them down - maybe I'll get up my courage one day to ask my couple for a photo op.

  10. Ah yes, dogs are pretty nice people -- and I'm in favor of giving them the "royal treatment" whenever possible... Lucky dog... And it's obvious that the dog enjoys the ride... A bicycle powered canine rickshaw... Life for a dog doesn't get any better ...

  15. I'm going to guess about "the story". The man got the dog because he needed to increase the amount of exercise he got. The dog doesn't like to go for walks. The man's wife said, "Honey, now you made a promise that if I'd let you get a dog, you'd do more exercise." So this is the compromise the dog and his man worked out.

Kate, this is a wonderful image from Saint Paul and I enjoyed the story behind it. I did post a similar image on December 14th; I called 'Cycling the dogs'.
