Meet Ellen (or Edgar) the Eagle
My camera lens is not powerful enough for a close-up, but I loved seeing the eagle and its nest yesterday. I think I'll go with binoculars today to get a better view. A friend spotted it and tipped me off and the bird soared into the nest shortly after I had arrived. I previously had seen several eagles' nests at the Eagles Museum in a near-by Mississippi River town and was amazed at its size. Even at this great distance it is obvious. I think eagles may be hunting along the Mississippi River which is close to my house. Our winter has recently been brightened for me by all the wildlife I have seen recently.

What a great capture.
ReplyDeleteYou got a pretty good shot at any rate. Eagles are magnificent birds. We have some down this way, also, and on two fairly recent occasions an eagle buzzed myself and my friends on a golf course. In the first instance, the eagle had a squirrel in its mouth and was being chased by a bunch of crows. I don't know how that ended and wouldn't hazard a guess. Eagles and big and tough but crows are smart and wily and very quick.
ReplyDeleteThat is thrilling to see an eagle, Kate!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful sight to see. I haven't seen an eagle in a long time.
ReplyDeleteThey're amazing animals to see!
ReplyDeleteWe have an egle that lives by the lake near our place in Colorado. I don't care how many times I have seen it...I always get excited.
ReplyDeleteI have seen and photographed eagles this winter, too. Beautiful and strong birds, aren't they?
