Animals On Display
Recently I noticed a crowd of children and adults surrounding a small enclosure in the Highland Park Bank parking lot. The fenced-in area contained a donkey, American miniature pony, two Alpacas and reindeer. I suppose it was a holiday treat for the kiddies. I am currently reading Jon Katz's book about a donkey, "Saving Simon" so I was drawn to Peaches, a 22-year-old-donkey who was sharing the area with Shasta, a 9-year-old pony. I was delighted to see the enjoyment of the children but really did not like to see the animals displayed in this way.

I agree with you, always a bit sad to seen them just standing there to be watched by public.
ReplyDeletePeaches is adorable.
ReplyDeletethey're both adorable.
ReplyDeleteCute critters, I love the donkey. Great fence finds. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a publicity stunt. I agree with you about this kind of thing. It doesn't do the animals any good.
ReplyDeleteSeems an odd thing for a bank to do. But, these two are very cute.
ReplyDeleteNice photos! Bank do really strange things...
ReplyDeleteThey do seem bored, like they'd rather be home in the field.
ReplyDeleteCute cute faces!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on that. I always find it wonderful that the kidlets get to experience the animals, and heartbreaking that the animals have to endure being cages and manhandled all day.
ReplyDeleteAnimals in jail. I avoid zoos for much the same reason.
ReplyDeleteBoth cute!
ReplyDeleteI agree; they look so sad and forlorn. At least the muzzle thingies are on comfortably loose. They're great to look at, but like Kay said.. animals in jail do not give me joy.
ReplyDeleteCute donkey!
