Lucy Rose Fischer
from her book
I'm New at Being Old
In her own words: Artful Aging: I create fanciful designs that tell stories with vibrant colors. For much of my art, I paint upside down, inside out and backward on hand-blown glass bowls and vases. My art career is also upside-down. I had a 25-year career as an award-winning researcher, teacher, and writer—with a PhD in sociology and a specialty in the study of aging. When I was almost 60, I asked myself “How old do I have to be to follow my dream?” and I began my art career.
OH, I like this! Must check out the book.
ReplyDeleteI don't read about being old.... I live it. :)
ReplyDeleteGood for her to follow her dreams, and she has a gift to share with others. I know people that could use a few of her marbles.
ReplyDeletegood for her!
ReplyDeleteAn inspiration for us all. Well done, Lucy (and thanks for sharing, Kate).
ReplyDeleteI like her work...and her book sounds fun too. I myself feel young....and I hope the feeling continues!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome.
ReplyDeleteI like it! Colorful and fun. I can't really say that I still have all my marbles though. But I have enough to make life interesting.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing woman with so many extraordinary talents.
ReplyDeleteKate, I didn't cook anything last night. My friend David and I went to a local Mexican restaurant instead. There were were met with Mardi Gras style beads and flashing rings and DJ's playing lively Mexican music. It really is rather amusing how Americans make such a big deal out of a date in history that is of little note in Mexico.
Love here work. It's so expressive, yet nuanced at the same time.
ReplyDeleteHope you'll keep your marbles till the end, Kate:)
