Lighthouse Station-ABC WEDNESDAY-"L"

I'll be posting photos from our road trip now and then as I find places where I can use wifi.  This is the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum, which is a Lighthouse station, different from just a plain ole lighthouse because it includes the building itself plus separate quarters for the keeper, the family, other staff and other buildings...a whole community. If you're in the area it definitely is worth a visit and can be found near Anastasia State Park and the Alligator Farm  after you cross the Bridge of Lions.

Isn't the lighthouse keeper's house fantastic?!

  1. Lovely reminder of days gone by. Lighthouse such as this are becoming "extinct" I fear.

  2. We have visited lighthouses on vacations but I dont think they included the housing. OH MY-the home they have here is fabulous. Beautiful pics.

  3. That is much larger and more elaborate than what I would suspect for the lonely isolation of the typical lighthouse keepers house.

  7. Beautiful! It looks like the lighthouse itself is quite accessible. Our New Dungeness Light Station doesn't allow people outside the light room. And what lovely quarters! I assume it is still in operation?

  11. There's a song on the soundtrack of A Clockwork Orange, I Wanna Marry a Lighthouse Keeper which is running in my head.
