Another new neighbor!

This is nothing like our friend Abraham Lincoln's yard, but wildlife is finding hospitable surroundings close to our home. He's been feasting on our newly planted flowers. My other new neighbors have me worried since the birds haven't hatched, and I'm concerned about how the mother bird is incubating the eggs since she isn't there most of the time. I always thought the mother bird was supposed to sit on the nest all the time. Well, we'll see soon I hope.

  1. What a cute rabbit! Few years back I had seen a rabbit beside a road, and I took it back. I was so happy because I'd found a new pet. But sadly, it's owned by one of my neighbourhood :(

  2. What a lovely rabbit! Amazing photo! I also have rabbits on my yard but I always fail when I want to photograph them. He is very shy and much more faster than me!

Your rabbit looks very healthy and I am guessing as a nest somewhere in your area.

We have a robin with a nest on our patio and it has been pretty cold in the mornings and they are naked as j-birds but the mother goes off to find food and they are uncovered a lot.

The rest of the day they can be seen sticking their heads up high with mouths wide open trying to ge the next worm.

The mother also sits there on the edge of the nest and waits for one of them to do #2 and they do and she picks it up in its white sack and swallows it.

Not your kind of motherly love but it is what robbins do. I have gotten photos of this whole process but so far the "poop sack" is either not in focus or halfway down the beak.

    But I will keep trying.

Love this rabbit, what a fantastic close-up shot! You can almost feel his soft fur.

Worried about your neighbour's eggs too. Don't think the mother should be leaving the nest at all. Wonder if you taking photos of the eggs was enough to disturb her or whether it had nothing to do?

  15. Is it a hare? That nest looks nice too. I like your nature approach in Visual St. Paul. What kind of bird eggs are those?
