First Day of Fall!!
Two weeks ago I noticed that the leaves on this maple were turning.
Too soon!
Too soon!
An equinox occurs when the tilt of the Earth's axis has the sun directly over the equator. This happens twice per year. The Vernal (spring) Equinox happens around the 20th or 21st of March and the Autumnal (fall) Equinox happens around the 22nd or 23rd of September. Because the sun is directly over the equator there is a roughly equal amount of daylight and darkness over the entire planet during each equinox.
My favourite time of the year. It's not too cold or not too hot. There's no bugs except for us camera bugs out photographing the beautiful landscapes.
ReplyDeletePS: That maple tree looks so handsome.
Feels early every year I think. Nice Autumn colors it is.
ReplyDeleteYes autumn is coming now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture though! Looks a bit like Utopia!
ReplyDeleteNot soon enough for me! We were still in the high 90s a week ago.
ReplyDeletei'm with kathy - finally, our first cooler day was yesterday. thank the lord!
ReplyDeleteWell, more depressing if you see them turning in August. It happens.
ReplyDeleteIn Arizona we welcome the arrival of fall. It has still been around 100 degrees here.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fall colors will be showing up more now. For some reason, I always look forward to the Equinox. It brings a change in air. Today it has brought WIND!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors. I know, people will want the summer to linger, but there is something in sights like these.

What a beautiful tree! It was funny to read my sister's comment above about the wind. It's windy down here in the desert too.
ReplyDeleteWe got a hint of summer here in Coventry today! Hope it continues into tomorrow. Lovely photo, Kate.
ReplyDeleteNice reminder of the points to an equinox. Seasons come and seasons go, albeit in a speedier fashion these days.
ReplyDeleteoh no!
ReplyDeletei havent seen trees turning here. yet...
and yes, you can use the picture of course! good luck with bread baking. in my experience, even a failed bread still tastes much better than those from the supermarket...
Already? Nice colors.
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful fall tree here. I occasionally see isolated trees that have changed colors while still quite healthy, like this one. I am ready for good foliage this year.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tree. I imagine we will soon have beautiful leaves, too. I agree that it is too soon.
ReplyDeletebeautiful colors
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tree! We're seeing some early signs here, too...and celebrated the first day of autumn camping in the pouring rain.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely spot and photo too. We had 33ºC on the first day of autumn.
