My husband and family indulge me!
The photos are courtesy of Amazon's web site; do you think they'll mind?!
Because I am having a great time duplicating some of my photos and using as greeting cards, I decided I'd try to learn photoshop to improve the quality of the cards. Not a business venture since no-one seems to write anymore (the former English teacher curses!), but it's for fun, family, and friends. I'm finally giving in and buying photoshop at the suggestion of some of my friends and photo bloggers. I've resisted so far, but am taking the plunge now; wish me luck since I've heard it's not easy to learn. Any help out there?!
I'm also joining a camera club; this is serious business, folks!
Well congratulations, I suppose you have your birthday!
ReplyDeleteWell..Happy Birthday ..I am also a Sept. girll!
ReplyDeleteI salute you for learning new things....And I think you should have a give away of your first photo cards. There are those among us that still write!....Good idea Janey!
I joined the camera club here. They are such a welcoming and sharing group. As for Photoshop, there are video lessons in using it to be found for free online. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new adventures. A friend gave me a totally new Photoshop Elements 9, well, new to me and never used. So, I'm trying to find some time to learn how to use it.
ReplyDeleteiPhoto is as much post-work as I can tackle.
ReplyDeleteI was interested to see your reply to my comment yesterday. Playing violin for premature babies is a remarkable volunteer activity. Julie's mother, Glenda, used to volunteer by having her dog trained as a therapy dog taking her dog to the hospital and having the dog to the hospital to visit patients. The patients loved it.
Congrats, Kate! My advice about PhotoShop: stick with it. Suddenly it will all makes sense. :))
ReplyDeleteMaybe you and I can go through this together. I bought Photoshop Elements a while ago and still haven't installed it. I think you've inspired me to get it done.
ReplyDeletegood luck to you! have never used it.
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the luck with it, and you have my tutorials for inspiration, and if you ever have a question feel free to contact me!

Photoshop is great. I have hours of fun with it and you will too. I didn't find it that hard to learn how to use. If you get stuck, the help button will take you to step by step video tutorials on line. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI suppose a Big Happy Birthday wish is in order. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ms. Kate! I like your gifts you have chosen to celebrate the occasion with. Giving one's self a challenge is just what I would expect from you! Success is assured!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to you...and many more!
ReplyDeleteI use Photoshop Elements v10. It's as complicated as you want it to be. I use it routinely to resize photos, fix tilts (I chronically slant 1-2 degrees to the right), crop and/or adjust brightness. I learn best by taking on one thing at a time. Get comfortable enough that you can do a task almost without thinking. Then try whatever's next. There are all sorts of things available that I've never taken on (layers, for one) and I seem to get along fine without them. In v10 (& other earlier versions) I've found that the program doesn't always do what the book says it will, so don't beat your brains out if you hit a wall; it may be the program, not you. I don't know that I'm competent enough to offer tech support, but I'd be happy to help if I can. And, if not, I can dispense ready sympathy!
Your family obviously knows what you like! What thoughtful gifts. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, youngster! Your family sure knows you, don't they?
ReplyDeletePhotoshop will help you with easy and complicated editing. You don't need to learn everything on Day One. If you have time, take a couple of classes.
Happy Birthday! Looks like your going to be having some fun. I just started an Adobe Lightroom class on Monday night. Looks like we will both be learning something new.
ReplyDeleteA Very Happy Birthday, Kate!
ReplyDeleteWhat a super birthday pressie Kate, it certainly sounds like you're getting down to business now :))
