Sadie

Sadie has been a member of our household for 22 years. She arrived as a gift to our son Karl when she was only a chick. When Karl moved out, guess who inherited her?! Birds are very social and very smart. She doesn't like too many people but she thinks I am pretty terrific. Occasionally she bites the hand who feeds her, but I told you she is smart--she prefers me to other family members with the exception of Karl.

Oh, Bobby,I said, when I saw this picture. We had exactly same looking
boy parrot, but we did not know, how old he was, when we bought it from Scotland. Can you believe, one parrot, three children and we parents
came all the way from Scotland to Oulu, where we lived then,by car and caravan, nights were very - interesting :)It`s quite a long journey.
Very good portrait of Sadie and she can live still 40 years!

  3. She looks great for her age! Does she talk?

  4. Isabella, yes she does talk, and I would blush too much to repeat some of her vocabulary. When she was quite small, some teen-age boys taught her some words that are normally taboo here. When they went away to college, I taped some of Sadie's conversation and mailed it to them so they could enjoy the fruits of their labor! Glad to say that since there has been no reinforcement for many years, some words have been extinguished.

  5. Delightful portrait of Sadie. She has lovely coloring.
I had a parakeet named Perry Keet..but he never talked, just lots of noise. And yes mine would occasionally bite the hand that fed him too.

  11. What a cutie. Really nice photo. I didn't know until recently just how long some birds live. Amazing.

  13. That is a beautiful bird.

But I hear parrots can be very jealous of their owners' spouse. They feel like they are in competition for affection.

    Does Sadie like your husband?
