"One of the city's outstanding parish churches, a free interpretation of French and Italian Romanesque. The facade has elaborately carved portals, the largest of which depicts Christ and various saints...Above the main portal is a spectacular rose window set within a pattern frame." (AIA Guide to the Twin Cities by Larry Millett, p451). I don't have a picture of the rose window, but I'll go back and photograph that and the inside of the church soon. I like the fact that they named the saints right underneath; you don't have to guess or consult your guide constantly!

Do you know if the attendance at the parish churches is doing well? The reason I ask is because it appears that where I live the more "mega sized" churches and fewer and fewer local parish churches.

Thanks for your visits, folks. Denton, As far as I know, St. Luke's is doing very well. St. Paul is a VERY Catholic town. An article in the paper this morning indicated that the some urban city parochial schools are struggling, but the urban schools are thriving, esp. high schools because of donors, alums, and fund drives. Independent schools (not affliated with a religion) are doing well also.

crazy!!!! the door is so detailed - i wonder how long it took to carve all the detail - it must be amazing to walk thru such doors in such grand fashion.
