Actually these two are not new neighbors, they return every year and hang out in the neighborhood. Today they spent their time walking to and fro across three yards, and I "shot" them on my neighbor's lawn.
Nice duck portrait. The female must have a nest under a shrub somewhere. The drake is protecting her. We used to have them nest here but it is nearly impossible for the day old ducklings to get from here to the creek. Most never make it so we try to discourage them from nesting in our front yards. Nice picture, Kate.
And thank you for visiting my blog.
The price of gasoline went from $2.95 for a US Gallon to $3.19 yesteday. It is a guess what it will cost today.
Isabella, I don't know that they are the same couple; I just "know" that they are :) No zoom lens, just a darn good Canon S31S for a novice and birds that are used to humans in the neighborhood who protect them.
Oh, Kate! Now I see what you mean. They could be the same ones I shot. (I love the blue feathers on the female. I love these kind of neighbors.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stately couple ! And well captured.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful weekend, Kate!
How can you tell those are the same ones each year?
ReplyDeleteThe photo is excellent - did you get that close or do you have a good zoom lens?
