Going Up?

It's the week-end so the inevitable occurs: gas prices increase. Perhaps a better solution would be what is occurring on Carol's post. Click here to find out!

  1. When i saw the gas prices today, the though of taking a photo crossed my mind as it was the highest priced I have ever seen in Minnesota. I am glad to see that you also had the same idea.

  2. Gas prices in Europe are far higher, from what I can understand. Sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I've been reading on my Old English Sheepdog List how American exhibitors are now saying they'll not be able to afford to go to dog shows - and of course I realise it will have an impact far greater than that.

Here's a chart showing comparison between countries, including the USA.

  3. Incredible! Almost as high as here in Europe. I am so grateful to be living now in a city where I can get everywhere very comfortably by a great public transportation system, to the Vienna Woods included. Even to the airport, an arrow straith ride with a comfortable airconditioned ride (the "Cat" *g*) brings you from the city center in 16 minutes right to the check-in counter (or back into the city). And incredible the amount of exercise, i.e. walking, I get without having to think to pencil it in.

  4. Don't complain too much. Compared to European fuel prices, your prices are ridiciously low!

Yes, I looked on the link. Yes bikes is an alternative. As in some other French cities (and elsewhere) they will now offer a few thousand of bikes to rent, all over Paris.

(I just got rid of my car.)

  5. We are currently at $3.48...but compared to Hawaii, we are both lucky!?
And don't expect any sympathy from your European visitors - they've been paying an average of $6 a gallon for a long time now...

  6. Wow, your gas prices are more than ours. I hate to see them rising and rising. Our regular right now is between $2.99 to $3.02 a gallon.

Im usually up by 7 am.

  7. If my calculation is correct then the only thing I can say is: you are very lucky in the Netherlands it is 7,77USD a gallon.

  8. I am not able to say the difference with these gallons and litres, dollars and euros, but I can say without any hesitation it's very expensive in France! My bike and my feet are my friends!

  9. Petrol in Nottingham is nearly £1 ($2) a litre. I guess the answer against paying high petrol prices is to only buy your fuel on a Wednesday!

  11. Petrol (98 octane) costs around €1.40 a litre here (and in France) = $1.88 * 3.785 litres/US gallon = $5.30 a gallon.
And they're linked to demand in the States to a certain extent. The US doesn't have adequate refining capacity, so the multis buy refined petrol on the European market (instead of crude oil and refining it) which drives the price up here.
Add the various taxes and away you go...
