Theme Day January 1, 2020 Photo of the Year,

Although I have not been posting faithfully for several months (for a variety of reasons), I couldn't pass up the chance to participate today! This is my favorite road which leads to the ferry to take us to Washington Island, Door County, Wisconsin, where my family and I have vacationed for decades. I love the Island located in Door County where I was born.

Early voting

For every election in which I have participated, I have awakened early and joined the  morning group that is exercising our precious right to vote. I have always enjoyed this process, and until this year I have never voted early.  My branch library happens to be my polling place and while checking out a book last week, I noticed the people who were lined up to vote early. Realizing that the weather is getting colder, I thought, "Why not! If I vote now, I can sleep in on Tuesday morning!" Good idea!

My Day of the Dead images

Yesterday I showed you typical cemetery scenes from México during el dia de los muertos sent to me by a friend.  These are images I found in El Burrito in St. Paul. Clearly they are a different way to express the celebration, but we are far from México!

Fall Colors

If you are a "senior" and want to go on a road trip to see fall colors, AARP has conducted a survey of  1,000 baby boomers to recommend their favorite sites and then published them on their Travel Center site. Last week I took this photo in Ellison Bay, Door County, WI, which was ablaze in color. It is one of my go-to places for magical rejuvenation of my spirit, regardless of season, but the surroundings were breathtakingly gorgeous along the entire peninsula. Go visit before the snow flies!!

Some of the other locations recognized in the survey are Duluth, MN; Michigan's Upper Peninsula; Gatlinburg, Tenn.; Ithaca, NY; Colorado Springs, Colo. San Antonio, Texas; and Tacoma, Washington.
