Old-fashioned Sunday #3

The previous two murals are in better shape than this one; as you can see, the architectural defect is not camouflaged as well as yesterday's. Even though the murals have been neglected, the scenes of days-gone-by are still clearly visible on all three that I have posted. Have a good week-end, everyone. I'll see you on Monday!

Old-fashioned Sunday

Last year I posted quite a few murals, but along the way I found other subjects to photograph and turned my attention away for awhile. Now I decided to see if I could find some more. On an old abandoned building on West 7th Street I discovered a few murals that depicted St. Paul of yore. This mural is damaged along the bottom as you can see, but the leisurely Sunday afternoon is still quite obvious: a child's simple pleasures, a couple strolling, a Mississippi barge and the Cathedral upon the hill.

Friends of the Children

I haven't posted any St. Paul murals for a long time, but this one caught my eye. Actually I've been looking at it for a few years whenever I visit the ice cream parlour next door to it. The mural represents a national philanthropic organization called Friends of the Orphans. Recently it has received some favorable press in the St. Paul Pioneer press newspaper. Today I stopped in their office to check about volunteer activities.
