The Lexington

For three restaurant guys who grew up in St. Paul, owning the Lexington on Grand Avenue is a dream come true. Josh Thoma, Jack Riebel and Kevin Fitzgerald are still pinching themselves.
Recently, as they showed off every nook and cranny of the building, which has occupied the corner of Grand Avenue and Lexington Parkway since 1935, the new owners were as reverent as they were excited about reviving the restaurant. (Credit: Twincities.com)

For many generations this venerable St. Paul restaurant had been the launching pad for political campaigns, a hangout for St. Paul Winter Carnival royalty and a see-and-be-seen spot for St. Paul movers and shakers. I would be hard-pressed to find someone I know in St. Paul who hasn't been there. It will be interesting to see the make-over.

  2. I have lost count of the lunches I've had there ~ wooing future corporate clients at the travel management company I headed way back in the 80s-90s! What a delightful establishment.

  7. I remember places like that in San Francisco, back in the day. It takes a little something extra to become that kind of institution.

Regarding your comment at Jack's blog, I expect you might have seen the recent feature film Pompeii.

  9. Just the entrance makes it look like someplace special. About my quilt, I was in on the planning of the quilt. I tried to help with a little quilting but they told me to stop.....well they told me to STOP! LOL.
