Outstanding Theatre-ABC WEDNESDAY 'O'

The establishment of the Guthrie Theatre in the Twin Cities has been a signature event for theatre here.
The photo of Sir Tyrone Guthrie is located on the outside wall of the new Guthrie Theatre.

Although I am happy to attend performances in the current theatre alongside the Mississippi River, I still mourn the loss of the original building shown here.

  1. The Guthrie Theater is fantastic. We were just talking about it last night with Sharon (of Phoenix Daily Photo), Julie's mother, and some friends who came over for dinner. I never saw they old theater, but the architecture and location of the new building are striking.

  2. I suspect that the new building that now houses the Guthrie Theater will soon hold a special place for todays generation of theater goers. Like you, some of the old venues for entertainment that are now gone in my town I miss!

  6. An incredible talent. The Stratford connection I knew about... the festival still goes on strong today.

  7. I had the pleasure of attending the Guthrie a long while back. Funny, I don't remember the play but I remember the experience as being wonderful and that there was a Calder mobile that hung in the foyer. Didn't realize there was a new building.

  8. I see Dave already mentioned that he was just talking about this place last night at dinner. I haven't taken the tour like he did, but I have been there. I was there just about 4 or 5 weeks after the bridge collapse and I remember taking photos of it from the Guthrie building.

  10. This was informative. I have heard of the Guthrie theater but have never been there, and I didn't know who Guthrie is. Now I do.

  11. Change...exciting for some, unsettling for others. Hopefully you will make new memories in the new location.
