I have walked along this sidewalk in my neighboirhood many, many times. Yesterday as I paused to take a picture of something else, I happened to look down and saw this "found poem." I'd like to meet the poet.
What a wonderful sentiment to cast in concrete on a sidewalk. Considering how many memorials we have for war (and our veterans deserve them), it is only fitting that we have more memorials for peace.
Yours is a good companion to my post today, and I think I will go back and add that the reason Costa RIca was able to adopt a national health care system 60 years ago is that it abolished its military.
A rather good summation of our present condition...but it ain't gonna change 'til we somehow change our system so the rich don't keep screwing the poor.

Beaytiful idea, from the poet to have some verses on the pavement, and from you who stumble upon it and made an image for us!
ReplyDeleteI love that found poem Kate. Just lovely.

So simply stated, so profoundly true.
ReplyDeleteThis is too cool! Researched the Sidewalk Poetry Project and found some real gems. I've seen similar stuuf in Wellington
ReplyDeletePerfectly stated! I hope you meet the poet.
ReplyDeleteWould that we could!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the song Wouldn't it Be Lovely from My Fair Lady.
ReplyDeleteA perfect sentiment!
That is a beautiful verse. So glad you found it.
ReplyDeleteI like it! People often look down as they walk, so it should get read often, and it deserves to, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteMy site is back up now! Yay!
