Spring Delight

These crab apples on trees in both our front and back yard ripen in the fall but the birds don't eat them until spring. Seems odd to me, but whom am I to question them?
(This will be my last post for awhile 'til I get my writing arm back!)

  7. Maybe they get less crabby the longer they're on the tree? Birds like their treats sweet too! :)

No, I had no idea you had shoulder surgery. It was your visit that tipped the knowledge scale for me. I hope by now that you are up and about and raising that arm up over your head. I understand that throwing a towel over the top of an open door and then holding one end and pulling on the other will force you to raise the arm. My father-in-law had to do that once upon a time.

The cherry photograph is especially nice and a reminder that I will need to get a new cherry tree for my spot out back. We had a sour cherry there that got so old it slowly began to die back. One limb at a time. Then we got the last blow of Hurricane Ike and that knocked what was left over. Sadly, it was a nice old tree and a perfect place to get some great bird shots.

Now, looking forward to the weekend and the snow. We are supposed to get from 1 to 3 inches. I know it isn't anything like you get but it is a start for us this winter.

Take care of yourself and follow the doc's orders.

  30. Hi Kate! It's so nice to hear from you...and you're typing! Getting better and better every day, right?

Re your comment on Ocala DP: Christmas is often a time of excess, and I think you're right about the excessive ornamentation on those trees! But they do get noticed!

  32. Slow but steady, Kate, and you'll get there. I'm still recovering from the fall I took in February, but "recovering" is the operative word. Patience.

  39. Hi Kate...it is very nice to hear from you! Thanks for stopping by our blogs and commenting. That's much appreciated. We hope that you are recovering well and will soon be back blogging as usual...

Are you in Santa Fe at the moment...hopefully, the answer is "Yes," and the Twin Cities' weather does not look good for the next few days!

Re your question on Cedar Key: I don't know about that particular condo. It's very possible. Many of the newer places on the island are built with the idea of renting them out at different times of the year. If you are really interested, you could contact one of the realtors in Cedar Key.

Have a wonderful holiday season and a very happy and prosperous New Year!

  40. Ooh! Those berries are certainly pretty ... especially when contrasted with my current Seattle weather!

Hope those blue skies are still with you ... and not too much snow!

  41. Hi Kate! Would you believe I was thinking of you today when I read about the huge blizzard that pounded the Twin Cities...hope you safely ensconced in a nice, warm place.

I agree the snow looks nice when it first falls...but...there's always later...

Stay safe and thanks for your comment today!
