That's alotta pies!

I found this display in the entrance to my neighborhood supermarket. I'm finding all kinds of interesting details about my environment since I've started blogging; for example, I never realized how many, many pumpkins are used for displays around Halloween and Thanksgiving. It's a great autumnal decoration, but do we really need all of them?!

  2. Very nice display. Prabably not. But if you were a pumpkin grower, yes. ;) I prefer squash over pumpkin, and I haven't had my fill, yet.

Yes, I have noticed more and more punkins around. I think there are many more used in displays than when I was a kid!

  4. We probably don't need all of them but I do enjoy seeing all the clever ways they are used and the bright cheery color.
Love pumpkin pie though I have never made it from scratch.

  5. Fabulous photo capture and agree with your over-doing it with the pumpkins and Halloween decorations for that matter.

  6. As Helen said. Around here people tend to spend quite a bit of money on decorative pumpkins.

  7. Pumpkins are an "all-purpose" decoration :)
Rhode Island hold the world's record (as of 2006) for the heaviest ever documented - 1,500+ lbs.

For some reason, Kate, down here where we live, the stores now display so many varieties of pumpkins that we would not know which is the one to choose for pies. They even have white ones. I never saw a snow white pumpkin until this year.

  10. Halloween is a coming! Reminds me that I should start carving my very own pumpkin over here in Poland. I use it for my English lessons! By the way Kate...love your new title pic. Do you get a percentage from Northwest?!!! lol!

  11. Great store display (not too many pumpkins). Pumpkin pie with whipped cream is a must on Thanksgiving & Christmas.

  14. Kate, you know what's strange/funny about the display. We have the exact same scene in NYC.

My question is why do pumpkin displays always come with bales of hay?? :-)
