Postcard Quiz #2

This oughta stump you! The first one who correctly answers all three question wins an outstanding postcard which I will send to you from ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA, USA: 1) What is this object and its function, 2)Name the artist (this should be easy for some of you--Twin City bloggers NOT eligible, and 3) Where is it located? The photo is an enlarged small section of the object. You'll see the whole thing after all three parts are correctly answered.

  1. That's got to be a glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly. Am I correct?

  3. Two out of three are E-Z. It is a chandelier by Tacoma glass artist Dale Chihuly. Where in the Twin Cities is is I wouldn't begin to know. Been a long while since I was up your way.

  4. It's an artist named Kraft's interpretation of mac'n'cheese, using curly, curving plastic for the pasta and a softly glowing orange light for the cheese. It's on virtual display in homes connected to CDPB around the world.

  5. Ooh! Ooh! I know! I know! I found it on the web. It's at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.

  6. Kate!
I really don't have any idea and if I had one I couldn't explain it properly in english!!
    But the photo is gorgeous!
    Take care, :)

  7. It would appear to a glass object and since part 2 mentions an artist that suggests some kind of sculpture rather than an object like a chandelier; as to where it is located, I'd suspect an art gallery or museum would be too obvious, so maybe it is in a bank.

  9. It's got to be a Chihuly but unfortunately I can't answer the other two questions.

  11. I wanna say that this is a Chihuli sculpture and that it is in your local botanical garden (just because we had a Chihuli exhibition last year here at the Bronx Botanical Garden)

  12. Wow! What an amazing picture Kate...and I thought my donkey competition was hard. Don't really have a clue! At first I thought it was some painted art work...then I realised that is was actually 3D. I'm going to say that it is some fancy light that is hanging in a museum or exhibition centre. As for the artist...I don't have a clue!! Am not from the Twin Cities!! :-)

Thanks for the email. Don't worry...I will let you off the tagging game! Over at Toruń DP today, we have our last Toruń By Night photo...and it's a pretty one!

  13. THanks Kate for visiting my blog. Ummm....is it a lampshade or something like that? I have ABSOLUTELY no idea who made the object or where it is, but look forward to finding out.
That photo of my good self on that wonderfully isolated beach was taken by my 15 yo nephew who was my tent buddy for about 9 weeks, poor boy! Thankfully we are still friends! LOL!

  15. Hello Kate. I tried posting comment yesterday, but I don't think it got through. Anyway, this has got to be a glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly, am I correct? Where it's located and the purpose of it I couldn't answer. I know he does Christmas trees and chandeliers, but I don't think that's what we've got here.

My wife, Patty and I, looked at this picture last night and didn't figure it out. I looked again this morning and have no clues. It has a distinctive coloring that interests me and the shapes remind me of gourds yanked off a vine.

  17. You have me completely stumped! But it is lovely!

And you say, this is a small section of it? Wow! It must be beautiful in its entirety!

  18. I missed this, dammit! I was in Germany. Yes, I'd have known it was Dale Chihuly but not the location. Just adore his work and long to see it in reality one day. Seens photos, videos, tv programmes. Extraordinarily talented artist.

Thats a jackpot photograph you got there, because its Dale Chihuly's all-yellow seaform! First time to view one, thats why. :-) Ive always thought seaforms come only in earth tones. More Chihuly works at my Glass Art article.
