May 1-Theme Day: The Creative Artisan-Art in Bloom #6-ABC WEDNESDAY"P"

This lovely young woman was explaining to onlookers how she interpreted, arranged and framed the flowers to represent the painting,
Matisse's "Les Pensees de Pascal

I like the way this true Creative Artisan used Baby's Breath to depict the lace curtains.

  6. At least in my language artist and artisans are very different things...

    1. I think that she qualifies for either category:

An artisan or artizan (from French: artisan, Italian: artigiano) or craftsman (craftsperson) is a skilled manual worker who makes items that may be functional or strictly decorative, including furniture, sculpture, clothing, jewellery, household items and tools or even machines such as the handmade devices of a watchmaker. An artisan is therefore a person engaged in or occupied by the practice of a craft, who may through experience and talent reach the expressive levels of an artist using his hands, mind and heart in his work and what he creates.

    2. This is exactly what most of today's 'artists' are not. Even today artisans need skills to make objects, so-called modern or contemporary artists don't need any, an ignorant and often credulous public is enough. Believe and post what you like, but in Italian, and I guess also in other languages, artisans and artists are very different things.

    3. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Your interpretation is more stringent; mine is more relaxed and free, which does not mean that it is uninformed or "ignorant."

  21. I giggled at your debate with VP. He doesn't mince words and he knows what he likes and what he does not like. I have occasionally been on the receiving end of an education from him . . .
