A Great Lunch!
Last Friday we had the pleasure of visiting our granddaughter's elementary school to share lunch with her, an annual event that is organized by the teachers, staff, and volunteers. It was a pleasure to see the many, many grandparents and great-grandparents that attended. Residents of a nearby retirement home joined students who did not have grandparents able to attend the event and shared it with the children. So well-planned and so exciting for everyone!!

What a great idea to invite the eldery people.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great feeling when one participates in their grandchildren's lives. At least that's how it works for me,
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of inviting folks who might not have grandchildren nearby to be "grandparents" to kids who might not have grandparents nearby. And what fun for you!
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful idea! so special.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea. Too bad they don't do that here.
ReplyDeleteMust have been a nice day.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice event, especially since so many grandparents are taking a much more active role in raising grandchildren nowadays.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteMy kids brought their grandmother to their school's grandparents day celebration. It was always fun. I don't have grandchildren, so maybe I need to go on the list for substitutes.
ReplyDeleteA lovely and caring idea inviting people who may not have grandchildren to be a part of grandparents day and for the children too who don't have grandees, or perhaps their grandparents live too far away.

ReplyDeleteA lovely idea inviting people who may not have grandchildren to involve them in this and also for the children - perhaps their grandees live too far away.
ReplyDeleteIt's an idea that I hope is becoming more widespread ... a lot of kids are distant from their grandparents. I especially like inviting folks from the retirement home who might find this a joyfilled experience.
ReplyDeleteDid you get to do anything in the classroom with her?
ReplyDeleteWas the food as you remembered it? Great idea. I am sure you had a good time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!
