Popular or Unpopular-ABC WEDNESDAY "P"

Che Guevera
A Figure Larger Than Life
Revered or Reviled?

Images of Che Guevera, like Castro's,  are everywhere, and he is almost a cult figure. This huge silhouette is on a building we passed while on our tour bus (which is not the greatest way to photograph anything!).  To learn more about this charismatic revolutionary, go here.

1. "Better to die standing than to live on your knees."

2. “If you tremble with indignation at every injustice then you are a comrade of mine.”

3. "If a person has a good word for the previous government that is good enough for me to  have him shot."

4. "I don't care if I fall as long as someone else picks up my gun and keeps on shooting."

  1. He is undoubtedly one of the more controversial figures of recent history.

  2. The artist has made a nice portrait. This one I like more than the one of Castro.

  3. I like the artwork in this portrait of this controversial historical figure.

  4. Nice shot! I read a very interesting biography about Che years ago.

  5. That is awesome! I thought that first quote was from Emiliano Zapata. At least that's what I was taught.

    1. I googled the quote, Randy, and it is attributed to both Zapata and Guevera.

  6. I tend to agree with the first sentiment, actually. But yes, I got annoyed by the thin understanding of his positions that led to a bunch of Che T-shirts being sold.

  7. I really don't know much about Guevera but to many folks he's still something of a folk hero. I'd guess you had to be where he was and experience what he experienced...I do like the artwork, though.

  8. LOVE your quotes.

  9. An intelligent, good looking rebel... whose rebelling brought about his demise .

  10. Iconic, that is some size. Great quotes.

  11. It's impressive to me when simple line art can convey a portrait so well, whatever one may think of the person.

  12. The artwork is nice.

  13. Such an interesting portrait.
