Camera Critters-Who Could Resist?!

This puppy is doing what all little canines do...races around madly, rests a bit, and then collapses until the next go-around!

Tucker, Camera Critter

I met Tucker while walking in a park in Beaufort, SC.  His companion Roo was camera shy and wasn't interested in having his photo taken.  Tucker and Roo's mistress was enjoying the summer air at a table while working on her laptop so I tried not to disturb the scene too much.

Camera Critters-Waiting for Easter?

Bread and Chocolate is a favorite cafe that has an alcove in its fireplace  with decorations and floral arrangements that change with the season.  This bunny is perfect for Easter, but it's also an appropriate post for Camera Critters today.  To see how others interpret this meme, click here.

Cruel and Unusual Treatment-Camera Critters

On Saturday while shopping I came upon this "Christmas scene" which infuriated me.  One of our local hardware stores sponsored having this animal in a small temporary encloser on a sidewalk as a holiday gesture as part of Grand Meander (a holiday shopping fest on Grand Avenue inSt. Paul).  I quietly objected because of the size of the pen which allowed the animal only to walk in circles, and to be exposed to bystanders and the frightening noise of passing cars.  When I spoke to the owner/handler, I was told that it was "okay, cuz' they're just like dogs."  Some of the pedestrians admiring the reindeer with their children in tow looked askance at me as though I was some sort of lunatic. I wouldn't keep my dog in an enclosure this size nor would I put her on display as was done with this reindeer.  I shall lodge a formal complaint with the hardware store where we USED TO do all of our business.  Bah Humbug!!

Camera Critters:The Eyes Have It

When I have to pull up a photo from the archives that is 4 years old, I know that I need to go out on a photo shoot.  I recall this dog quite well because of his eyes.  I had a Siberian Husky with the same trait of one blue eye and one brown eye...a dog that I wouldn't wish on anyone.  Our Misha was a runner and always got out of the backyard, regardless of how we redesigned the fence to keep him in. I actually saw our dog climb a cyclone fence, topped by barbed wire (built on one end of St. Kate's college) to get inside the inviting green expanse of the campus. What a dog!

Camera Critters- Hitching a Ride

T
The horse drawn wagons have been very popular at the Farmers' Market this past summer.  Interesting that most of the riders are adults, rather than children!

Added later: Originally I had posted these photos on October 1, forgetting  about Theme Day, but I soon switched the post to today.  Sorry if you already saw this last week when it was briefly posted.  But the horses certainly are worth viewing again...beautiful animals!

CAMERA CRITTERS-Fenced Canines

I'd howl too if someone had tethered me that close to a fence! When the owner saw me taking photos, he crossed the parking lot, untied the dogs and brought them to the table where he and his noisy family were enjoying coffee and considerably more leg room than these animals.  Now, at least, the dogs themselves got more comfortable .  Bloggers strike again!

Camera Critters-Olivia and neighborhood cat

The cat is a beauty.  Despite the bell on its collar, I wish that this cat would not be allowed to roam the streets, especially since baby birds are just stretching their wings and learning how to fly.  Should I broach the subject with its owner?

An Apple A Day #3-Camera Critters: Appaloosa

This beautiful Appaloosa is part of the Apple-a-Day Project that I started posting last Friday (check here). A very different concept of Apple...but it works!  It's one of the paintings in the month of November.

I'm also posting it for the Camera Critters meme. Check here to see more of those post from bloggers around the world.

Canine Critters at the Carnival

There were quite a few dogs in Rice Park, looking at the ice sculptures with their owners.  This handsome critter was the largest dog that I saw during the short period of time I wandered through the park. My hands got cold as I snapped pictures so I fled back to my warm car.

The Holiday Spirit Lives!-Camera Critters Saturday

This rabbit is a favorite of children and passersby.  In the summer children climb all over it,  but in the cold winter months,  it's left alone except for some revelers with holiday spirit. To see more camera critters posted by bloggers from around the globe, click here.

Camera Critters

These beautiful and patient animals spent the day pulling a wagon full of familes who were enjoying the cool and sunshiny fall weather at a vineyard and restaurant where we enjoyed a wonderful pasta meal while watching the parents and children having fun.

Getting Your Goat-Camera Critters

City kids don't see farm animals too often.  While vacationing on Washington Island in Door County, Wisconsin this summer, Olivia's favorite place was the Farm Museum, which had old farm tools, buildings, and small animals.  If you would like to see more Camera Critters, check this meme.

Camera Critters-Old dog/New dog

Maggi is our 9-year-old dog and Lexie is approximately 1-year-old.  Can you tell which is which? (Not fair if you know which one is Maggi from a former post!).

This year we decided to drive to our winter destination, and we took Maggi with us. Our son who lives in and takes care of our house while we are gone was so lonesome that he got a dog for himself!  As a kid and young adult, he brought many animals home with whom we ended up, of course. Despite now being a mature adult, I wonder how this would work out.  As predicted, guess who's dog-sitting tonight?!
