Our Herpetologist
Fear of snakes? Nah, not our resident herpetologist, granddaughter Olivia! We visited the Art and Nature Center that is located in an old schoolhouse, which is family friendly with hands on exhibits. It's great that she is not afraid to handle snakes and now wants to catch and keep some in a small aquarium...just as her Uncle Karl did when he was a boy. Must be genetic!

My dad kept a snake he had caught in the country for months in a glass terrarium. My mom wasn't happy...
ReplyDeleteI don't mind snakes. Bugs are another story!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your gdaughter had a fine time!

ReplyDeletebravo, she is audacious ;)
She's a better person than me. Never been around them and don't care to be.
ReplyDeleteGood for her. I'm afraid it's not my cup of tea. Great picture of it wrapped around Olivias hands.
ReplyDeleteBrave Olivia! I had a python around my shoulders in Thailand and I must tell you I think that's enough! I've done it and don't fell the need to repeat it anymore! :-)))
ReplyDeleteI remember when I first held a snake, I wasn't scared at all, though I was doing it to impress a girl! I think they are fascinating creatures.
ReplyDeleteMust be genetic. I don't like snakes even through I try.
ReplyDeleteShe's braver than I am!
ReplyDeleteSnakes are welcome in my garden to eat pests but when they slither at my feet unexpectedly, I want to climb the nearest tree as fast as possible!!
