Senate Chambers of New Mexico-#18

Much to our surprise, probably the best place to see an impressive art collection of New Mexican artists is the state capitol building. The collection is enormous and eclectic, and all of the pieces are of very high quality. I was impressed by the lack of security in the building; in contrast, here in MN many of our government buildings are like fortresses. We walked in and out of both House and Senate Chambers, talked to the friendly staff, and were treated like honored guests! I'll show you some of the art pieces later this week, but today enjoy the Seal of New Mexico and the Senate Chambers.

  1. Wow, I'm surprised at the lack of security too. You would have thought they would have security everywhere.

    It is a beautiful seal.

  6. Hello, Kate!

I love your NM photos. How wonderful that you have been able to take the time to look around. The two times I was there, I didn't stay very long at all.

    I'm sending you a private email. . . .

  8. Hello Kate! I hope you fell better and better day after day. I'm delighted to discover your shots from NM. I amn't a very good friend through the blogs these days but the sun is shining, I'm on vacation, enjoying my children, the sea, and not having to keep an eye on my watch! I try to post every day...Hugs!
