4th of July Treat

Devoid of inspiration and not wanting to use any of the standards (flags, bunting) for my 4th of July blog, I asked DH to take me to Lunds to photograph a cake. The light wasn't right and the snaps were really substandard. When he saw the gleam in my eye, he did a quick fade--knowing what I'd do. He didn't stick around when I asked the lovely young clerk to remove the cake from the case and let me include her in my blog. Well, Jim's making progress; he willingly stopped at the super market to get my photo, but he still draws the line when I enlist total strangers. What a guy!!

  8. Well, the alternative could of course have been to buy the cake, bring it home, fix the perfect light... , but maybe you don't really like to taste blue cakes?

    Happy 4th!!

  10. That's funny. My husband will actually say once in awhile, that would make a good photo for your blog. That cake looks like it would be hard, the icing anyway. Hope not. Did you buy the cake after taking the photo?

  13. Kate that's a great alternative to the usual 4th pictures. The poor girl looks like she really doesn't understand what you are doing but that's ok. We bloggers are in a class by ourselves.

  14. Happy 4th July! This cake is very nice but is it good? American cakes are so far from French ones, the outside is so elaborated, I think it's hard to cut them up!

  15. You said you wanted to see a small town parade? Chck out my blog today... it wasn't a parade for 4th July, but a parade for CANADA DAY.... yes Canada was 140 yrs old on July 1.
Meanwhile.... what a great cake! But are you sure that BLUE icing is edible????

  19. Curious blue cake. Is it real? I hope you had a nice day. I am hungry with the view and all. This summer diet is really killing me.
