Hammocks

These hammocks have been appearing all over the Twin Cities in parks, boulevards  and public gardens.  Usually I see them slung  between trees enjoyed by happy, joyful young people who are taking advantage of  the seasonal weather and sunny summer days. Such fun and innocent pleasure! This is the first time I saw them on private property in a neighborhood yard.  I was taking Wild Wendy for a walk on a drizzly day when I spotted this one. I was sorely tempted to knock on the door and ask if I could take a swing!

  1. I've seen a couple here too so it must be a new trend! I wonder how long until someone injures themselves and sues the powers that be?

  3. I've been in one a couple of times. As interesting an idea as they are, I do wonder how much use one would make out of them if they had them on the property.

  5. The one time I was in a hammock was on a friend's ranch in the Texas Hill country. I read a book in it all afternoon in between falling sleep...a wonderful memory.

  6. This is funny because Trilogy has removed all the hammocks they originally installed. The reason, supposedly, has to do with cost. Being outside, they need constant maintenance and eventual replacement. I don't much care 'cause I can't ever get into one anyway. I can get out easily, I just turn over and flop onto the ground like a dying fish!

  7. When we lived in Mexico I spent many happy hours in hammocks. Now I think I'd have trouble getting in or out of one!
