Sunflowers

Sunflowers: Hand dyed and painted fabric 33 x 40 wall hanging

I discovered that I have neither discipline nor will power with a weakened work ethic when it comes to downsizing.  I announced to myself and others that I would take an hiatus from social media and blogging during the month of September to begin this important task to ready our home for sale in order to move to smaller living space.  Well, all I accomplished was emptying one wall unit of drawers and bookshelves.  The task is too daunting and my time was spent doing other mundane activities, none of which were half as interesting as viewing the world with a eye to photograph.  So, here I am. . . back again, eager to see y'all---lot more interesting than cleaning out unwanted and unnecessary objects of a lifetime of accumulated "stuff!"

The wall hanging above is just one of a collection of fabric art quilts and hangings  made by a very talented artist!

  1. My first look thought it was a photograph edited in Prisma or another painterly app. That it is hand-painted fabric is a lovely surprise.

  2. That's a pretty fabric and perfect for this time of year. Glad to see you back. I've missed you. I need to do some of that clearing out of 'stuff' also, but just can't get started.

  4. Well, welcome back. I truly understand the daunting task of purging life's "Treasures" in preparation for moving. 9 1/2 years ago we did the same thing. I said never again!
Photography and the blog are sort of like therapy to me. It's a great way to take a break.
Hope you can move on and have a successful move.

  6. Love this quilt, beautiful made. I am glad to see you back again, I wondered last week where you had gone, hadn't heard so log from you. There were more bloggers on a hold, so I was thinking what is going on in bloggersland. Everybody in a summerdip?

  7. Good to see you back. I know how you feel downsizing, you'll get it done eventually little by little. That wall quilt is absolutely amazing and done by a very talented artist. Now that is patience at its best to complete something like that.

  9. Welcome back! This is a beautiful piece of fabric art. I love it!
Too bad you couldn't keep up the momentum. I know a blogger who sets weekly or monthly goals for herself, i.e., "get rid of five things this week," or "25 things go this month." It breaks it down to manageable goals. Small successes may help get you inspired to do more.

  10. Oh Kate! What are we going to do with you.? I may just have to come ip there and pitch and toss for you. You remind me of one of my daughters. I use to get so frustrated when she was supposed to be cleaning her room and let everything side track her. Although. I must admit it is nice to have you back. pretty flowers.

  11. Good to see you back. Maybe if you come here and throw out my junk and I go there and throw out your junk, we would make more progress.
