Bridge Over Hwy 94

I took this photo as we were travelling on Highway 94 from Minneapolis to St. Paul.  The blue structure is a footbridge across the highway from the Walker Art Sculpture Garden to the Loring Park area. At one time these two areas were connected but the freeway cut it into two and changed the landscape. In the background several churches are visible as well as the Lowry Hill tunnel, which was completed in 1971.

Sunday bridges is a meme started by Louis LaVache. Go here to see more bridges from around the world.

  1. It is a shame when freeways cut an area, but at least you have a nice walkway.

  5. Bet this area looked great before the freeway and the bridge.

  6. You are correct that freeways divide neighborhoods and former neighbors. At least more cities seem to be building pedestrian bridges and sound walls to lessen their impact.

  9. I'm glad this bridge doesn't block the view of the church.
