These two pieces were in the art gallery in July at Freedom Park, a small oasis along the banks of the Mississippi in Prescott, Wisconsin, which is a regular stop on our frequent road trips alongside my favorite river.

deux belles creations avec une preference pour la premiere
ReplyDeleteSimple lines but so effective on the first image Kate, and much more intricate on second, good catch!
ReplyDeleteKnowing how you like Native American art from your visits to Santa Fe, I am sure you would be attracted to these. I am more partial to Southwestern Native American art than plains Indian art, parimarily because of greater exposure to it in Arizona.
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be a lot going on in the second one. Thanks for sharing these pieces.
ReplyDeleteBoth pieces are really interesting and I love the old look of the wooden frame on top.
ReplyDeleteThat top piece reminds me of a bust that my grandfather had. When I was a little kid, it resided in the attic. Now I think it resides in my sisters house.

ReplyDeleteVery nice art work. You will have to clue me in on where this is.
ReplyDeleteI am curious how they made the first piece. It looks painted but I know you can't do that with glass.
ReplyDeleteI know I shouldn't say it really but I love the frame on the first picture.
ReplyDeleteBoth are wonderful and unusual! And from a Prescott of another state!
ReplyDeleteThe first one looks like the kind of stencil graffiti that seems to becoming common. Like Banksy's work.
ReplyDeleteVery impressive! The first one looks like it's made out of a smoky-like glass!
ReplyDeleteAnd the second could, I think, be taken as a symbol of the trail of tears left behind by the "Whites" as they took over native lands and destroyed their way of life - because it gives the appearance of a native on a cross..
So original! I find the lower piece a bit too realistic my taste, but still, it's very unique. Great finds!
ReplyDeleteI like much more the first work than the second one...
ReplyDeleteyes, the first piece looks oddly familiar to me, as tho it were used in an ad campaign
ReplyDeleteROG, ABC Wednesday team
I really like that second one. It reminds me a bit of a very creepy self-portrait that used to be housed at Sutro's in San Francisco, before the building burned down. The artist plucked hairs from his arms (so the story went) to place on the arms of the statue of himself. It used to give us shivers.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you enjoy visiting this gallery. I think it's great that they allow you take photos in so many of the galleries you go to.
ReplyDeleteThe second piece is just nothing short of spectacular! I ABSOLUTELY ADORE it.
