Light Rail

“We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, ..."
C.S. Lewis quotes (British Scholar and Novelist. 1898-1963)

Construction of a section of the Light Rail between downtown St. Paul and Minneapolis is raising havoc with city streets.  This hole-in-the-ground is just a small section of what shop owners, customers, and people who work downtown have faced for several months now. I snapped this portion right next to part of the Farmers Market on Sunday. Yes, it will be convenient when completed, but in the meantime...

  1. This will be a historical photo someday.
I can sympathize with you all. I have been blogging about Jerusalem's light rail/tram construction for YEARS and it's still not finished.

  3. I would be on the light rail every day if I could. Dallas traffic sucks.

  4. Why is it that I can make good time but I'm usually on the wrong road?

I think this will be a wonderful addition to the Twin Cities...but, as you show, what a mess!

  5. I can releate to this! I love it now, but while it was being built...well lets say I swore a lot.

I used to have travel to Minneapolis quite often for work and I always took your wonderful light rail system.

  7. Progress can sometimes be a hindrance. Hopefully it will all work out in the end.

  9. The shop owners went through bad times in Phoenix when the light rail was being built too. Some of them lost so much traffic that they went out of business. Hope your shops can survive the mess.

  10. I felt the same way when I lived in Phoenix. So glad I moved mid way into the work.

  11. It's already started, wow. I knew it was in the works and was visited by Pelosi and company, but I didn't know they started work on it....
