RNC Is Over!!

On August 29, I posted a collage of the DNC from photos I took while watching television. To go full circle, here is another collage of the Republican Convention. Perhaps we'll now get back to our normal everyday life here in river city. I had fully intended to mingle with the crowds and the protestors, but my family prevailed upon me to remain in our much quieter neighborhood. A chance of a lifetime, but I decided to honour my family's request. I still think they're spoil sports, though, and I'll have to settle for television coverage. I'll never get this same chance again!!

  1. Kate your collages were wonderful regardless of our political leanings. Thanks for your documentation of these events.

  2. beau collage, on a vu cela en France en direct, mais la France est plus tôt pour Obama. Impressionnante la photo des forces de l'ordre.

beautiful collage, we saw it live in France, but France is earlier for Obama. Impressive photo enforcement.

  3. Hi Kate!
The «cowboy» with the cell phone is amazing... but I definitely prefer the lovely lady, not to mention the incredible Novosibirsk post. Great work!!

I’ll finally get some days off this year; not much, just from Friday night (September 5th) through Monday morning (September 15th). But I don’t leave you empty hands: a beautiful beach and lots of champagne wait for you at Blogtrotter. Enjoy!

  4. Politics is really show buisness in the US... and they become more and more also here!

... and I agree of course with Virginia's comments!

  5. Looking at the one photo with the police in riot gear, I think you family may have been right.

I do like it when the political business is finished and the news is about grandparents on front porches.

  7. It's very interesting to have the view point of someone close to the centre of events. Thanks, Kate.

Yes, your family may have been spoil sports, and yes it it might be a once in a life time event, but then we still have you...and that is wonderful.

  9. Hope you booed and hissed at the television, at least.....

  10. Kate - another wonderful collage. Both really epitomise everything that happened at the two conventions.

Now we'll listen to the debates and wait with bated breath and hope to God America chooses well.

I'm not saying another word else I'll explode!

  11. Hello Kate!!!

You MUST watch «Mamma Mia», if you haven't already!
I posted today some posters of the movie and three awsome musics from its soundtrack. I hope you no longer have problems opening the blog...

    Love, from windy Lisbon today!

    Kate:

I sent Eric an Email. I suppose it takes a while to pull my plug.

  14. Great assemblage of shots of the TV (difficult to do!) but these people just make me so MAD! See here for some reasons.

  15. I bet the downtown traffic was horrendeous. The last time the RNC had a convention, it was in NYC.

  16. Nice collage, Kate. Too bad you didn't get a chance to go down, but I understand your family's concern, I think. You never know what's going to go on with protestors. I worked the DNC in San Francisco in 1984. It was very interesting, but very, very, very crowded and suffocating.
