Labor Day, September 1, 2008

Despite the fact that the Republican National Convention is in town and I had hoped to get photos of the protestors plus it was theme day (with lots of computer viewing), I went instead on our annual trek to the Minnesota State Fair. (I missed some photo ops as protestors made their views known) The day was brutally hot and humid, but, as usual, we had a good time.

  2. Olivier, I'm glad that you like my granddaughter with the "teddy bear!" Actually the bear is known as "Smoky, the bear," that is a well-known symbol in the US, warning people of the dangers of forest fires and cautioning everyone to be wary of how they use campfires and also to be alert to careless use of fire in all cases. Smoky is primarily an educational tool.

  4. Kate, I love good state fairs. You mentioned on my blog that you were going to go to the MN Fair, and I forgot to tell you I'm jealous. We used to go to the Ohio State Fair when we lived there. . . It is FANTASTIC! The TN State Fair has a long way to go. There is a county fair here (Wilson) that is supposedly one of the top county fairs in the country. I also grew up in OH near the Canfield Fair, another great county fair. It puts TN to shame.

    Nice collage by the way!

  6. I think you made a good choice. Probably much more fun than a group of protestors.
