Little Free Library Festival
Last Saturday there were large crowds throughout the day at the Little Free Library festival in Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis. Volunteers built libraries during the day to demonstrate their construction and some were raffled in the afternoon. Many books were available for free, and other activities included strolling musicians, poetry readings and puppet shows. To see what you missed, go here.

what a great idea! Looks like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat great fun! I would have loved to have been there. And Minnehaha Park was always one of our favorite places! I've got some wonderful photos of the park and the falls. Free libraries are also a great idea but we don't have any here that I know of. (Sorry about the grammar)!
ReplyDeleteI am still looking for these things in my neighbourhood. No luck yet.
ReplyDeleteHow could you not have fun in a park called Minnehaha Kate :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! You are seeing more of these free libraries popping up in different areas. We have one here at the beginning of the coastal walk and it is being used quite frequently. My wife and I have put a few books in there and of course taken a few out.
ReplyDeleteI have seen these about our town.....great idea.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great project and a fun event!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! Love seeing this in neighborhoods all over the city. There are two in my immediate neighborhood, and many more in what I consider walking distance.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great national movement. Have an Iowa friend who maintains one of these.
ReplyDeleteLove the Free Little Libraries! There was one down the road from me in a park. Sadly, it was vandalized and had to be removed. I hope all these were filled with books and received nice homes.
ReplyDeleteKate, thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment. Since March, 2015, I've been dealing with cancer and for much of the time I hardly felt like taking any photos, much less blogging. Now that I have a CT scan with no abnormalities, after two surgeries, six rounds of chemo, one hospitalization for complications due to chemo side effects, and 28 radiation treatments, I'm finally getting stronger and interested in taking photos and blogging. Thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteOh, my! That is way too much for one person to endure. Your photo today certainly is an hopeful image and a good omen for you. I hope that your recovery is steady and strong. My very best wishes for future good reports on your health!!
DeleteThanks, Kate. I appreciate your very best wishes so much! I am blessed that I've been able to return to work, 32 hours a week for now, since March 21. I'm certain that getting out to catch the bus, walking at work and at home, eating right because I found out on May 4 that I'm prediabetic and must work at it to NOT become a diabetic--all of this is working for the best for me. For years, I've joked that taking photos (and blogging) helps keep me sane. It's true. I feel more whole than I have in quite a while since I'm doing this again. Thanks for your support, honey.
DeleteGreat idea and a fun event!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great event. I hope these continue to spread everywhere, especially for the sake of little readers. I keep a supply of books in the car just to add to a little library when I see one, but since moving south I think I've only seen one. And that was on a trip somewhere, come to think of it!
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty shade of blue!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great event. I am always happy when I come across a little free library.
ReplyDeletesuch a great program
