Bridges And Boats

The Old and the New: I prefer the old drawbridge to the new one; I think it has more character.  On the other side of the old bridge are hundreds of pleasure craft of all makes and models.  A popular boating area.

  3. I have never seen such a bridge in real life, only in images, and I wonder what it must feel like to stand there while the road in front of you goes up :)

  4. Indeed a road that suddenly seems to be a bridge without other marks than that it is crossing water is no bridge at all in my eyes.

  8. I'm not sure I've ever driven over a drawbridge. I think I might prefer being second in line, rather than first!

  14. We have a variation on a drawbridge that operates between the Olympic Peninsula and eastern Puget Sound. It has a way of timing openings for the most inconvenient times.
